Just think, this poor "ex-civil servant" could have bypassed all these
problems by simply requesting permission to run the program after hours on a
"non-interference basis" ....

The desire to find intelligent life does not necessarily indicate someone
with "smart thinking".....

A google search will reveal that seti is frequently used to stress test a
computer
since it runs the processor at 100% capacity with a lot of numerical
calculations. A
CPU that runs seti without problems is unlikely to overheat under other
circumstances.
