You may wish to check out Intel, MS Knowledge Base on Win2K and HAL
issues. If possible, try the SUSE live distro running an SMP kernel and
see if that makes a difference?

Thanks for the idea's re: SUSE etc.
Am not so sure I need to change OS on this server yet - the MS product is
doing a good enough job for 8+ hours a day (running various things) and
running the SETI CLI/SETI Driver combo is a positive "bonus" for this
machine.
But once it gets pensioned off, then I might be able to acquire it "on the
cheap" and use it 24/7 for some BOINC crunching (assuming SETI Classic is
retired).
