Greetings!

Welcome to SETI (@home) Rob !! Good to have you on board.

I only started a couple of weeks ago. I've done 12 WU so far :-(
I'm running an iMac, it's OS9 so I cant run the BIONC stuff

That's 28 hours per WU. Seems very slow. I dont know much about the iMac, but you might want to check your settings on seti classic.
The screensaver graphics eat up very much of the processing time, so you might want to change it to 'running always' if you are not
using your computer.. See if it makes a difference (it did for me : speeds up 5X).

BOINC is not likely to improve runtime/WU, since the basic algorithms per WU will not change much (if at all).

What can I do If classic winds up?

I dont think it will wind up any time soon. A 'couple-of-months' (as others report) is very optimistic (or pessimistic depending on
how you look at BOINC). BOINC is struggking with many usability problems ever since it came on-line.
I myself will stick with seti classic as long as I can (because I dont want to spend time on debugging an immature program), and so
far the majority of seti crunchers seem to do the same thing. I doubt that the seti@home group wants to give up 80 or 90% of their
users for standard crunch work, so I think you can count on seti@home classic to stick around for a long time.

Happy crunching !

Rob
