it's pretty simple

go there, follow the getting started bit, basicly make an account, and get 
the software
you don't have to pay for anything, but i know it can be a bit confusing 
haveing all the seti websites around

basicly goto url above, make account, download/install software, wait for 
the e-mail with account info in it, do settings menu in boinc, attach to 
project (it will want the info in the e-mail)

all you have to do is update boinc client now and again, best method is:
quit boinc
add/remove, remove boinc
install new version in the same place as the last
it will carry on where it left off project wise
