I've been running Seti Classic since mid 2000 and today for the first
time I lost WU's.

This morning I submitted 12 completed WU's from my cache and only
received credit for 9,  I have no idea how many processing hours I
lost as one machine takes an excess of 30 hours per WU, and and my
main machine takes about 4 hours per WU.  Worst case scenerio says I
lost about 90 hours of processing time from my account.

It happened to me as well on the same day, with one wu.
It happened also on 15 May, 30 July, 20 August (2 wu's) and 15 and 18 September,
not counting the wu's that took less than one minute.

It makes no difference which computer processed a lost wu.
The loss is 1/(1/30+1/4) hours per wu.
