I've a 400 Hz Mac Cube under OS 9.2 processing classic at around 14-15
hours per unit and a Pentium something at 400 MHz under linux (Fedora
Core2) with about the same performance. -Makes sense as my old 233 MHz
G3 needs 22-24 hours per wu.
A while ago I had to work with a Windows XP laptop with an 800 (about)
MHz PIII and when I put it into good, real, productive use, it did a wu
in 6 to 7 hours. Not bad.
Now, I recently got a 2.4 MHz Athlon with linux FC 2. What a
disappoinment: a wu takes 8 to 9 hours to process. What a disappointment!
What have I done wrong? If I can't fix it, I'll never make it to
top-50k. -Seriously, is there a problem with the linux implementation of
the classic 3.0.8 (or 3.0.9, the linux box is at another site and I
don't want to bother her with trivial requests).
