I can't help you with your choice of operating systems,, but I can tell you there are
better run times for a 2.4 ghz. cpu..

For the last 18 months(4800 wu's), I have run a dell 8250 2.4 P IV, win xp home, sp1, cl
ver 3.03,, + seti spy & driver and my run times avg around 2.7 hours. The P IV is not the
same as yours, but your wu's should be closer to 3-4 hrs,, maybe better..
