I have seven units that are expired. My dual CPU win XP pro box
running boinc is working on two of them. I assume the others will
also be crunched eventually, probably next since they are next on the
list.
Is there a way to delete these units so the program can get to the
unexpired ones?

I have not experimented with deleting workunits in my queue so cannot say
what would happen if you deleted them.
However, when you complete them and send in the result you will get credit
for them if they validate. Have you checked to see if they have been awarded
credit to anyone yet?
I would suggest reducing you cache size so this won't happen again.
