I installed the GUI version on my Windows 2000 PC too.
If you use it as a screen saver then I've found it runs only half as
fast. So I've not got it set as a screen saver and have ticked the box
in the box in "Preferences" so it runs all the time - doesn't seem to
get in the way of my other work.
Trouble with using it as a screen saver is that it's not a very good
screen saver in that most of the image is constant and could damage your
monitor. Most PC's have power saving features these days so the monitor
should switch off after a while - so it shouldn't really be a problem.
