Trouble with using it as a screen saver is that it's not a very good screen saver in that most of the image is constant and could damage your monitor.  Most PC's have power saving features these days so the monitor should switch off after a while - so it shouldn't really be a problem.

Tick the box in the s@h preferences to go to a "blank screen" so that it doesn't waste cpu cylces drawing the graphics to a powered off screen.

Meanwhile, there's the newish s@h2-boinc to try instead...
