I've been away for a couple of weeks and only just seen this thread. I
suppose that we all hoped that his transplant would 'do the business' and
ensure his return to health for a long time to come. It may be a crumb of
comfort to us to think that the money raised for the operation gave him a
little more time - more than we initially feared, less than we ultimately
hoped and far, far less than this lovely man deserved.

Another candle goes out in this dark world.
