Hello All

I am running BOINC 4.13 with two projects - Seti@home and climateprediction.net.

I want to configure BOINC so that Seti@home is the preferred project but I want it to fall back to climateprediction.net if BOINC runs out of seti work units to operate on.

I realise that I can set BOINC preferences to 99% seti and 1% climateprediction.net but that isn't really the same thing.

You don't really want to do that with CPDN. You will time out on the climate simulation and then it would be wasted effort in any case.

If you run with the percentages, you can predict if a work unit will complete before the deadline. If any one project is unavailable, then the other project(s) get all the spare cpu time.

In general, you shouldn't be setting priorities over more than a 10:1 spread. For example, if you have a 2GHz machine, the 10% project is effectively running on a 200MHz class machine (very slow)!

On my linux machines, I have GIMPS running in the background at the lowest priority as a cpu test/check and to soak up any spare cpu cycles if boinc is not busy for some reason.

Happy crunchin',
