hi.
thx for answer.
i use the screen saver version (but only in backround)
HT is in the Bios on ENABLE
and with ctrl+alt+del i have 50% CPU use with seti
you might want to consider the new version of seti, it's still in beta
though
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/
Boinc is no longer in the Beta phase, it is released, quite a few
months ago! In fact Seti Classic will close down in the future and
Boinc will be all there is! But this person asked about Classic.
for seti@home classic you want to download the command line version
http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/unix.html
i386-winnt-cmdline.exe (you want this one)
you need to run 2 copys becuase you have hyperthreading on
create 2 directorys in this structure: (anywhere will do, in c:\ will do)
setathome
|
+---- seti1
|
+---- seti2
save a copy of the command line into each directory, and run each one, the
first time you do this the directory will be empty so the client will ask
you for login details
NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!
Just use the program SetiDriver, it will let you use any number of
cpus you have! If you have 2 meg L2 caches on 4 Xeon processors you
can run 4 per cpu PLUS the 2 per cpu that the Xeon will let means 8
per cpu and all thru SetiDriver!!!
AND all in one directory!!!
the command line versions are faster than the screen saver, but not as nice,
there are lots of programs for seti to hide the command line in the
background
agreed, the CLI version is about 10% to 20% faster.
