From a follow-up, the units are Wh/h which equal plain old simple Watts.

Not a very fair comparison.  The fastest P4 they tested was the 1.8GHz, while the other 2 x86 were only 800 MHz.  Comparing to a dual 2GHz G5. It'd be more interesting to compare top of the line x86 machines instead of ones that are 3 years old to the top of the line Macs.

If other's would care to contribute their figures, we could compile an online table.

The intended comparison was for /each/ of the CPUs /individually/ for their power consumptions for "idle", "normal use", and 100% "distributed-computing (s@h)" use.

The power comparisons between the CPUs is interesting also. A further comparison is to compare the power figures against the MFLOPs chart on whichever SetiSpy web page to get a power/MFLOPs rating...

What does show starkly in the figures are which CPUs operate with 'power saving' features.

Happy crunchin',
