card and sound card draws 132 watts with BOINC running, 127 watts idle.
I make that 5 watts at 100%. As for normal use, running S@H 24/7 is
normal use. ;-) At 350 MFLOPS, that's 70 MFLOPS/watt.
I would have thought that more modern computers would actually use less
power mostly because they are often supplied with LCD monitors, yet that
chart showing the G5 is very scary. I have a nice halogen heater next to
me that uses 350 watts, equivalent to the G5. I guess that's why Apple
went from plastic to metal cases. ;-)
Incidentally, it would be nice to have a calculator for DC project usage in a
similar vain to this one:
