However, even with this fan, the CPU temp jumps up to 80+ C within a few
seconds.

Ah, you obviously got a brand new super hot Prescott. You probably received
a boxed cooler with it, I recommend you use it. Also make sure you use the
thermal paste you received with the procesor as well because it's of a much
higher quality than the stuff you get with other HSFs.

You would have been better of with an AMD CPU.
