Handychip in Spektrometer, new aspect for getting setidatas?

The chip looks like a normal PC chip, includes over 3mio transistors and
elements. The commercial chip can do up to 3 measures simultaneos,
consumes very less energy and is available very cheap. And: the new
spectroscope is as big as a human hand, so it would be possible to
include it in a satellite. Worldwide are 3 groups working on, one is Uni
Bonn. 

ESA plans to use 14 new devices in 2005 at 100m Telescope Effelsberg,
Eifel. Astrophysics tested the new spectrometer with succsses. In Chile,
Atakamadesert 64 telescopes for spectroscopie are build conventionel,
means energy for cooling and working is high.
