like to know my fellow crunchers opinions and ideas on this subject
what is the most inexpensive but at the same time powerful cruncher....say between 40
and 100 wu's a week?
Hi
A Intel P4 Prescott HT (Hyper Threading) 2.8 to 3.2 GHz processor for
about 180$ with some Barebones chassis makes about +100 wu's a week.
(24 hour working.)
But you also need the SETI Driver and the Command Line version of SETI.
The SETI Driver uses the both CPU's in the HT version of one processor.
(The "real" and the "virtual" CPU are used and you see the processor activity
rise from 50% to full 100% use.)
This is a good example of "multi threading" capacity in the service of science.
