In principle I suppose, but most of the Macs in question are working
machines running software that would not be portable AFAIK (e.g.
QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator) -- and anyway I don't think it would
be reasonable to ask their users to switch OSs for the sake of a
program in which they have little or no interest, let alone to expect
my employers to tolerate any loss of productivity that could be
attributed to such a change. The 'semi-retired' machines functioning
as printer RIPs &c. (which get the most crunching time, if not the
most results) all appear to be too old for the Linux distributions
I've seen advertised: other than some laptops, most of the Mac
systems they mention can run OS X AFAICT anyway -- for which there is
a BOINC client.
