Ok I use the latest version of Mcafee Security Suite and disabled
everything.  I guess I could unstall the thing and try and reinstall
Mcafee. How would I know if the Windows firewall is running.....I
don't have sp2 yet....been putting that off.

Look on the "advanced" tab of your internet connection (properties?).
It might be hidden under the tcpip details. Ignore the dire warnings
that "MS Knows What Is For Your Own Good" clicky dialogue thingie.

Ok will take a look.


SP2 at last does block a few things in the default firewall settings.
Shame that there's the usual obfuscation about /what/.

That SP also knocks out some 'third party' software...
