Are you shutting down Boinc BEFORE trying to actually do the upgrade?
Well dur! I knew I'd forgotten something ;)
Sorry to sound condescending but my first experience with a computer was
a dumb terminal on an acoustic modem connection to a government computer. I
think I know to shut down a program before trying to upgrade ;)
Most people have no problems if they first exit the program and then
do the install, remember to say to no to the screen saver question,
and then let it come back up and pick right back up where it left off.
The screen saver has caused problems for some people.
All screen savers cause problems. They're a novelty toy but not suitable
for regular use IMO.
