I have read through a few of the posts and it seems like it should be
getting a little more bang for the hour.

My AMD Athlon XP1700+ takes around 7 hours for a workunit.  For the fastest performance, make sure the screensaver is turned off (all screensavers - just go to blank screen) and stop all programs except Seti.
