Has anyone tried to run two CLI's at the same time in a single P4
system
that has a Hyperthreaded CPU? Do the two argue over resources?
It works fine, yes they do argue and that means that each workunit
takes a bit longer but since you are doing 2 at a time it more than
makes up for it.
Use something like SetiDriver to do it, it is easier.

In general, how much slower is WU results than when just one is run?
My son has HT and he slowed about 25% from the single unit speed.
He went from 2 hours for one unit at a time to 2 1/2 hours per unit
while doing 2 at a time.

I've got a P4 3 ghz, 1 gb ram running only seti at the moment & it's
best time is just ove 3 hours. What do you use to get 2 1/2 hours?

That's interesting. I think you should be cranking them out faster than
that. I am running a AMD 3000 XP (barton) with 1 GB of ram and crank them
out in about 3hrs each + / -. Since my clock speed is at about 2.16GHZ you
must be letting the screen saver run or something. Are you? If you are, that
is going to slow your process down. Also, that chip has Hyper Threading too
dosen't it? I am a rooky and that is why I ask these questions.. LOL
