How does BOINC 4.25 function? I want to know if there is a page that
describes the functionality of BOINC 4.25.
This is how I understand it.I installed BOINC 4.25 on a WIN98.It
downloaded Seti client 4.09.It downloaded Seti work. The processes that
are running are, C:\XXX\BOINC\BOINC.EXE,
C:\XXX\BOINC\BOINCMGR.EXE,
C:\XXX\BOINC\PROJECTS\SETIATHOME.BERKELEY.EDU\SETIATHOME_4.09_WINDOWS_INTELX86.EXE
C:\XXX\XXX\WINOA386.MOD
BoincMGR.exe and Boinc.exe asked for internet access from my firewall.
BOINC is running SETI and doing work.
BOINCMGR is contantly either accessing the internet or accessing
BOINC. My firewall shows this Approx.every 3 seconds.
When I exit BOINCMGR ,SETI still runs as stated on download page but
the accessing stops so I know it's BOINCMGR accessing internet or
BOINC. When I deny access to BOINCMGR and BOINC,I cannot see any info
in the BOINC Manager window panes.Only when I allow access do I see
the info. Why is this? Even if I check "disable Boinc network access"
BOINCMGR still access something.I believe this to be Boinc

the manager program uses tcpip to connect to boinc (whih is turn managers
setathome_4.09.exe and such)
just allow it network access, it isn't going to the net it's talking it
itself
disable network access means it won't try to contact the seti servers when
it needs to
