I'm just now For the 1st time moving on to boinc. I've been using seti for
years.
Possibly from the setup and the home page, it makes me ask.. Just how do any of
those other projects
Boinc : BOINC-based distributed computing projects include:
Boinc :
Boinc : Climateprediction.net: Improve the accuracy of long-term climate prediction.
Boinc : Einstein@home: search data from the Laser Interferometer Gravitational wave Observatory (LIGO) in the US and from the GEO 600
Boinc : gravitational wave observatory in Germany for signals coming from rapidly rotating neutron stars, known as pulsars.
Boinc : LHC@home: improve the design of the CERN LHC particle accelerator.
Boinc : Predictor@home: Solve biomedical questions and investigate protein-related diseases.
Boinc : SETI@home: Analyze radio-telescope data, looking for evidence of extraterrestrial life.
expect to get ANY processor time to do anything ?
example. When I got this new machine and found I had 2 processors I
re-installed seti. Which promptly grabbed 100% of both processors time. I was
cranking out units like flapjacks, but couldn't do anything else.
Found a program to limit seti to just one processor and co-existence is now
possible.
Seti still uses 100% of CPU1, but I have full use of CPU0.
And the above suggests that these other 3 programs can co exist with seti on a
single processor ? I got news for you it sounds like nothings going to get done
if I add anything else with seti.
I don't use screen savers. If I'm not at the desk, the machine is OFF!.
It's been known to call out on it's own b4 except when it's off.
I don't know if windows has this option, but Amiga had a program where you
could assign priorities to EVERY program or service running on the machine if
the Amiga was guessing wrong ie: 99% assigned to a chess game and 1% assigned
to system. You could take and reverse these two.
