Assuming this is the seti necessary for a P4 on XP pro, why can't they just
name them according to processor or OS.
tnx.
It does, in a way--Windows 2000 is NT 5.0; Windows XP is NT 5.1.
As far as processor, that executable will run on 386SX/DX, 486SX/DX/DX2/DX3,
Classic Pentium, Pentium MMX, Pentium II/II Xeon/III/III Xeon, P4/P4Xeon,
Itanium, K5, K6, K7, Athlon, Athlon XP, Athlon MP, Opteron, Cyrix MII,
and a few more.
That's at least 23 distinct CPUs. Which one should they name it after?

Why create something that runs on 23 different things, if it will run on any of
them ?
Re-creating the wheel 23 times ?
