The answers to your questions are simple...they do not know the
answers yet  themselves!

Thank you for another simple non-answer.  Who are you and why do you
think you know what is up at Berkeley?  Please don't take this too
personal but I think SETI users deserve real answers from someone at
Berkeley who is willing to state who they are so we can have
confidence in the information they give.

There's not many names in the team over there so you can make an 'educated' guess for yourself. Only they have access to the website, so why sign each entry? You could put in a request for clarification?

And why the suspicion?

Why do you think it will be less than a month?  Thousands wonder.

That's as good a guess as any.

They are COMMITTED to closing Classic down!

How do you know this?  I am certain that at this point in time we
can only guess what is really going on at Berkeley.

All the developments and pressure of doing better science point to that.

Dr Anderson has outlined nicely and clearly the careful steps they will work through to smoothly move over to the much more versatile and newly developed boinc-s@h. The timescales are 'open-ended' depending on how each step proceeds.

See: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/transition.php

They have a lot of things to 'get right' and to still keep the project live. Rather than lie with optimistic dates, they are likely working to make the most timely transition as humans and systems allow.

I'm sure someone could write a boinc-s@h 'add-on' to let people reminisce over the old s@h classic screensaver graphics.

Happy crunchin',
