The one other thing to try is turn off the firewall and see if it
works that way. Sometimes new programs use new ways of getting to the
net and firewalls only do what we tell them. Just a thought.

Hi,

I did notice that the Boinc installation/activation had some "unexpected
behavior" with Norton firewall on at least one PC.

This may be helpful to anyone installing Boinc that is also using Norton.
Normally, when I install network enabled programs, I need not do anything
with the firewall. When the program first launches and attempts to speak on
the network, Norton launches a dialogue requesting if that particular
program should be granted access to the network. Simply selecting "Full
Access", "Configure Automatically", "Always Use This Setting", ect at that
point normally allows it work just fine. With Boinc, it was already
attempting to download when Norton prompted to allow it to have network
access. After enabling it, it continued to remain "stuck" -- even after
rebooting. Solution was to uninstall it and re-install it with Norton
firewall completely disabled. After Boinc finished all it's initial
downloading, I manually added it Norton's "Internet Access Control" list and
re-enabled the firewall.
