I
read you correctly the only thing your using seti for is the cool screen
saver program and you don't give a ratz ass about finding ET?

LOL. Basically, yes, I've used the SETI screensaver for years essentially
just for the screensaver aspect. I've always just considering the actual
crunching of numbers as something "abstract" -- that is, considered it
pretty neat and would love for the SETI project to find an ET signal with
intelligence, but it was the screensaver that I mainly used the program for
at my (user) level. Netherless, always ensured that the program had network
access so it could faithfully download work units and upload the results.
At my (user) level, basically just looked at the number crunching as CPU
cycles being put to cool use when I wasn't using my computer anyway. Pretty
good deal, a nifty screensaver for some unused CPU time.

What are you going to do when they close down seti classic?

Wait patiently for BOINC to incorporate password enabled screensavers. I
know that these BOINC projects are, for the most part, unfunded volunteer
work -- but it couldn't possibly be that difficult to add such a simple
feature?

Cheers!

(Still crunching, but with SETI classic again.)
