Strange. With WinXP what happens is that a password dialogue box attempts
to appear for a split second but then the screen goes completely black. If
you don't touch the mouse/keyboard, the screensaver comes back after about a
minute. There is no way to get through the screensaver and you have to
power cycle.
I've seen this "bug" mentioned quite a few times on the Boinc forums.
Rudylis replied in this thread that one of the most recent WinXP updates
appears to have fixed this, so it may have been a WinXP issue. I just
installed all the most recent WinXP updates and will re-install Boinc to see
if its working correctly now.
