I had a problem with my Dlink router DI 604 (HW:B2)
It was upgraded to the latest software 20040604_604_182b2.BIN
Recently it became fully transparent and routed everything including the ARP
protocol from my ISP. So my computer got it's IP-address from my ISP. At the
same time the routers IP address vanished and it was no longer possible to
get in touch with it and its configuration pages. Reset(button) to factory
default didn't help. If I did a tracert the Dlink did not show, the first
router was my ISPs router. I listened to the trafic with a ethernet snooper
but there was no sign of the Dlink. No ARPs, no nothing.
I do not know if it failed into an unacceptable state or if it was hacked
from the outside. Thou I guess it was hacked. But it doesn't matter.
I have now replaced my router with a router from a diffrent manufacturer.
If you have a router of the same make you should replace it.
