I haven't used BOINC yet, but I presume this is refering to a dialogue
within Windows rather than within BOINC. I assume it is an option that
requires the use of a password to exit from the screen saver display mode
and will be in a display or security related dialogue. The actual location
of the dialogue will almost certainly change between versions of Windows.
I presume the problem is that BOINC doesn't contain the code needed to
honour this option fully, so can only honour it by not running as a
screensaver.
If this is your machine, it is an option that you will almost certainly
have deliberately set in the past. If it is a work machine, it may
be being set by means of group policies, in which case you are out of
luck for running BOINC as a screen server as, even though you were given
permission to run BOINC (I assume that you are using BOINC legally),
it is unlikely that you will be able to convince the IT department to
relax this retriction.
I believe BOINC can be run in a non-screensaver mode, in which case
there is no reason why it should be run, assuming you own the machine
or have permission from the real owner of the PC.
