Of course, they also explain why they think keeping these probes working
is a good idea. Non-US citizens (like me :) can also sign it.
Sorry if this post is off-topic here, but as there already were
discussions about Voyagers probes on alt.sci.seti (subject : Voyager
probes in funding crisis) and as I believe some people here are also
interested by these probes, I thought that posting this message could be
acceptable.

Were the 'golden' discs created because that was the best technology at the
time or someother reason? i.e. if the same project was launched today, would
they still use a copper record, or cd, or high capacity hdd, or what?
