It would seem to be a problem with DNS. Check the TCP/IP setup, firewall (
if any ), and general network access.
My 4 PCs share the same ADSL link, and they are OK.
It cannot be a firewall, as the Laptop has none (software) and I depend
on the hardware firewall in the router, which also acts as a DCHP server
to the PCs on the LAN.
However, shutting down and rebooting a while later (typical Windows
solution) sorted it out. Most of the cached WUs have downloaded, and the
machine is crunching. Why I do not know.
Had I been running a firewall, and the rest of the farm was OK (except
for returning results), then I would have blamed it and shut it down.
