Sorry about the crosspost but I'm not sure this post belongs fully in
one group or the other.
I've installed Boinc on 2 out of my 3 computer with varying degrees of
success. Two are now processing WUs even if I'm not sure how to build
up a cache of WUs to stop from having to connect every day.
The problem is with the third computer. It doesn't even get passed the
install wizard initiation. The message I get is...
"The MSI.DLL file is linked to missing export
NTDLL.DLL:NtQueryInformationProcess"
I have no idea what that means and perhaps somebody in the Windows OS
group knows. I tried to reinstall the OS (Win98 SE) but it still comes
up with the same error. It also comes up with a few corrupted files in
the final check before the OS is up and working. About 4 or 5. They
weren't the files listed in the error message.
On a historical note I installed the Win98 SE windows folder over the
top of a Win XP windows folder thinking it would obliterate any vestiges
of an XP installation. When I boot the computer it still asks me if I
want to boot XP or Win98SE. I don't imagine it can possibly boot the XP
anymore (it was passed its activation date which is why I got rid of it)
but that may be a possible source of error which might be causing the
message I get above (for all I know).
Any help of suggestions would be gratefully received.
Bill
