One thing that Bill _has_ _got_ _right_ is a very effective marketing command and conquer strategy that works /very/ well. Whether or not the products are any good must be a very low priority.

On second thoughts, I'll rephrase that in that the products are indeed very good. They are very good for marketing those products further, just like a virus is good at replicating itself. Similarly, the requirements and good health of the users is very secondary...
