we are crunching behind a proxy (and setiqueue) but our security
engineer will never let us crunch for boinc with a direct connection
to the internet.!
so we have to quit at the end of seti classic at 600k+.
maybe there will be a possibility to crunch behind a proxy in the
future...

HTTP and SOCKS proxies are posible with boinc. The older versions <4.32
had some problems, but works very well with boinc 4.43 or 4.72.

that are good news...
why there are 2 versions of boinc?
Do you mean on the boinc download site ? - Boinc has released a new
stable version (5.2.x), but the old stable version (4.x) will also be
available for download.

i dont have a boinc client installed by now, so i am only reading
messaging about upload download wu problems and sometimes the problem
is, that the boinc client is to old and there is an update...

i thougt you have to update the client automatic and only the correct
version can get and send units?
Automatic download are only for the science apps (seti@home, LHC,
einstein@home,...) posilble. The boinc client must be installed and
updated by hand.
You must differ betwen the scheduler (boinc) which do upload/download
and scheduling of the different science apps.

if we would install boinc at the end of classic, do we have to update
all clients manually or will this be automatic. i dont have time to
install every update manually!!
