i dont mean server problems... at the beginning of boinc there were
many answers to update the boinc client if no wu is up or dl.

But the benefit from boinc with seti is the queueing mechanism, which
prefents from the need of connection to the servers. - But many user
hasn't set this queue right (higher), that outages can be buffered by
the WU cache. And so there was affected of this outages, and posted this
heavly in the forums...

i know this....at classic we are using setiqueue for this

i thougt you have to update the client automatic and only the correct
version can get and send units?
You can use use all the boinc clients with version 4 and 5 for seti.
Only the version 3 boinc clients don't work any project.
All the seti apps with version 4 will work together with the seti project.

The seti science app will be automaticly downloaded and updated, if you
have a OS which be supportet from berkeley (Windows, Linux, MacOS,
Solaris).
If you use on from the third party site, you must update the seti app
manualy.

ok. no manual update necessary.

Automatic download are only for the science apps (seti@home, LHC,
einstein@home,...) posilble. The boinc client must be installed and
updated by hand.
You must differ betwen the scheduler (boinc) which do upload/download
and scheduling of the different science apps.

if we would install boinc at the end of classic, do we have to update
all clients manually or will this be automatic. i dont have time to
install every update manually!!
This feature is planed. But can not say, if it will be ready to the end
of classic.

What is about and update by a script ? - The boinc installation are not
may steps, and could be easly do by a script. - Which OSes do you have ?

i dont mean the first installation, only update old boinc version -
new boinc version.

we were crunching on tru64, linux, now we only crunch on
win2000,xp,2003.

is there a possibility with boinc to see all clients on one computer
(like setiqueue)?
now i take look at setiqueue and i see if a computer is down or has
problems with a workunit (not sending wu, down or something else).
