All fine from this part of the UK via NTL.

Try a few traceroutes. Are you suffering a dead proxy or outdated DNS 
cache?... Firewalls!!!?

Nothing as exotic as that ... no proxies, only a hardware firewall on my
router (ADSL via POTS), etc.
