I agree it's not about ego. It's about science supported by user
unfriendly software and lack of foresight by the software writers and or
administration of the system. Especially when one would expect at least a
million users.

I believe it is easier to cut ones losses and seek greener pastures with
ones new found knowledge.

Perhaps if someone had concentrated on the science then the software
would be less of a problem.

    kind regards,
                        Dex

Only one person at Berkeley and what, 5% of 1 million users so 50000
emails. That's a lot! (Wild guesses :-) )

And your reply does not actually repair the situation as there is
still no password recovery option on the website or in the software.

Well, obviously it was not of any importance for you. Its also called
security. I'm sure you'd scream if someone "stole" your credits.

Meanwhile, all this is futile!

Your seticlassic credits are still there and listed against your name, for
however long Berkeley continue to exist.

The Boinc system is new and comes with a new credits system.

Crunch onwards, anew.

And you can still bask in a rosy glow knowing for yourself how much you
have contributed.

(Or are you just some egocentric stamp collector?)

Sorry, but my strong opinion is that Berkeley should concentrate on
getting the science done. Credits are "a bit of fun" and not worth wasting
any time over for a user's forgetfulness and ego.

Martin
