Apparently remembering phrases is easier than remembering multi
character passwords.
It is also more secure.
Hence it's implementation in secure systems.

Do not EVEN THINK about working for the DIA or NSC or other hodgepodge
of letters than! I have a friend whos access is so high he needs a
multi word phrase to log in EACH AND EVERY TIME, and if he walks away
from the machine he must log in when he returns. It AUTOMATICALLY logs
him out when he walks away!!!! The phrase is not like...the dog is
brown. It is more like...I had dinner with my wife last night and we
ate meatloaf. The phrase also has to change periodically.
Needless to say he plans his away from the computers outings.
