I am presently running Seti@Home classic.  I have down loaded BOINC but have not installed it.  I am waiting for the EMail giving me my new account No.

No need to wait. Enter your email/details and the Boinc database should find you ok.

Question 1:  Can I run BOTH classic and BOINC at the same time until classic shuts down on Dec. 15 and then uninstall Classic?

Yes but that's not such a great idea.

If you're on Windows, then s@h-classic will steal most of the spare CPU time away from Boinc and so Boinc will not work well.

On Linux/Mac/others, the CPU time would be shared between the two but...

The s@h-classic WUs are now the same as those now being processed on Boinc and so the s@h-classic work is now pretty much redundant.

Most useful for new science is to run Boinc only.

Only run s@h-classic if you are desperately chasing that last do-or-die milestone...

Question 2:  I have been waiting about two hours for my new account No. EMail.  Is this wait time normal or is there a problem?

The s@h servers are getting hit very hard at the moment with new users. They've added a second web server to help out. I would guess that their email system is similarly 'busy'.

Sorry, if you've already done the form stuff as above, then a few more hours may be needed to let the mails trickle through.

Aside: Have you checked that your mail has not been dumped in with all your spam???

Welcome to Boinc,

Good luck,
Martin
