I don't have many WUs completed, just about 2,500 in the past couple years
or so. But I tried BOINC a few times and OMG it's horrible. Many have said
this and many have replied saying these people don't like change or
something. But I had all kinds of problems, from it running when it's not
suppose to (I want screensaver only), to not running at screensaver time.
I'm a software designer myself so I should understand software, but man,
this looks like a product of some government agency gone awry. You know how
people say if the government was a company, they'd go out of business? Well
in my opinion BOINC is very similar.

Software is suppose to be easy to use, not difficult like BOINC. I
understand the want to have a more open arcitecture, but it seems when
things get too open, things get way too complicated. Or maybe this is just
BOINC, I dunno.

I know I'll get flamed for this, but there's no way anyone will convince me
otherwise. I gave it a shot, twice. I'll find something else for my
computer to do while it's "idle".

C YA!

Okay I am just a computer user, but I got it running on over 15
machines. Are you saying that I, as just a user, is more capable than
a computer programmer? I think not, I think you are overthinking the
problem. Boinc is an overlay that Seti runs under, like Solitaire in
Windows. You MUST run Windows first in order to play their Solitaire
game. For Seti to run you MUST first run Boinc first then attach to
the Seti project. After that initial attachment whenever your computer
is restarted that process does not need to be redone, it is picked up
automatically from the settings.
Come on, are you saying that this ol user is smarter than a
programmer?!
Yes that is a challenge, if I can do it so can you!!!!
IF you choose not to continue, that is okay, but do not not do it
because "it is too hard".
Seti Classic was a set it and forget it type of program, do you think
that I could have any other type of program running on these 22
computers here?! 15 of my machines currently run Seti under Boinc.
