Sounds like you're trying this on Windows ;-(

Can you double check the steps through here please:

Note: Updating your password in your account settings at the s@h site is a good idea to make sure that things are set up as you expect.

Also note that the Windows "firewall" or 3rd party "Internet Security" can cause much confusion! Make sure that Boinc AND the s@h client both have internet access..
