Seeing the end of SETI Classic, I cranked up BOINC; they had an account waiting for me. I
still haven't figured everything out, but I seem to be crunching away.
My point is that the transition is not as simple, easy or welcome for some folks as it is
for you, or even for reluctant me. I don't know how to encourage reluctant folks, but I do
hope those faithful crunchers will get on the BOINC bandwagon.

Yes and to be fair, the Boinc + Projects structure is a lot more
elaborate than s@h-classic and takes a page of reading to explain. Such
is the compromise between power/flexibility against easy usability.
For the thousands joining up each day onto Boinc-s@h, the hits on the
Q&A forums has been nothing like as bad as was feared. There's been a
handful of volunteers on there fielding all the questions. Even Berkeley
have jumped in with quick-fire releases to solve at source the most
often asked questions.
The biggest problems indeed seem to be that of people not
'understanding' what is happening. The next problems have been with
various "Internet Security" software on Windows causing mayhem!
I agree that Boinc is not a "one-click" solution.
Hopefully, it is not too hard an education for a new system.
Good comments from you, and thanks for a reminder that sometimes
computers are not easy.
(And your questions have already been well answered by another poster.)
Welcome on board Boinc,
Happy crunchin',
Martin
