Hi all,

Has anyone else been having problems with boinc stuck with uploading WU's
or not switching projects?
I have several seti work units waiting to be sent, and its been stuck on
uploading since yesterday.
Also, it doesn't seem to be switching to other projects, even though I'm
running four in total.
I can't see anything wrong with my settings.

Paul

i See two problems being discribed in this thread .
1. Not uploading this can be answered inpart by this link.
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/tech_news.php

2. Not switching between projects. This AFAIK is caused by project defect
that are tracked by the moinc manager. Because one project is down - the
defect continues to grow to such a large value that when work does finally
come in boinc will dl so many wu that it overobligates the machine so it
switches into earlist deadline first mode. Meaning it will try and
complete all wu's that may exceed thier deadline first then move onto the
other projects. This then propogates the defect on the other project and
cycle starts all over again. But eventually it works itself out.

Thanks Larry, I think you may have got it there.
Sometimes, I have seen messages saying 'Note: not requesting new work or
sending results' and 'Suspending work fetch because computer is
overcomitted'.
I'm not sure about the part saying not sending results, because its been
doing that fine (except with seti at the moment), but my remaining seti WU's
do have the earliest deadline date out of my four projects.
As I only now have about 4.5 WU's to complete for seti, hopefully this will
have rectified itself by the end of the day.
Usually I slow my processor slightly to about 3/4 speed using my laptops
power management software, as this runs the processor at about 60C under
full load as opposed to about 82C when at full speed, but I'll crank it back
up to get the work done :-)
Thanks for your help everyone, I'll see what happens later on when all seti
WU's have been completed.

Paul
