I understand that part. How do I get Boinc to run only as a screensaver and
to request permission to the internet exactly as I had classic running.

The second part is set on the Berkley main Boinc page under "my
account", then you go to "general preferences" and change the option
that says "Confirm before connecting to Internet?
(matters only if you use a modem)". If you have an always on
connection, dsl or cable, make that choice in the Boinc program on
your computer. Double click it to open it, the "commands" tab and then
select "network activity suspended".
The first part of your question is a bit harder but should be located
under "general prefernces" and then "Do work while computer is in
use?". If you set it to no then while yo uare using the computer Boinc
should not crunch. Be advised though that for a long time now Berkeley
has discovered a problem in the non standardazation of video cards and
in some cases the project thinks the computer is in use when the
screen saver is running. They are working on a solution.
