I went into my account and saw that it already says 'up to 2' processors ...
perhaps that was the default.
I am not at my hyperthreading desktop PC now, but if, when I see its Task
Manager, there is only one instance of BOINC ... what would that mean ?
That Hyperthreading is not being implemented ? I gather from all that has
been said that BOINC is smart enough to use both processors by itself.

It means one of two things...either your computer is not set up for
HT, normally you enable/disable it in the BIOS, or you need to update
the client. Go into the local Boinc and click on the project tab and
then click on Seti and then click update. This will update the
settings from the web site to your computer.
The only other option is to look in Task Manager and then Processes
tab and see if there is only one or if in fact there are two instances
of Boinc running. It would be two identical, not one Boincmgr and one
client, that is still only one.
