Berkeley is having connection issues right now.
If it does then stop Classic, they will
interfere with each other and neither will work very well. Do NOT
run
them at the same time. If there is no "running" work unit in the
"work" tab then come back here and post what the error messages are
in
the "messages" tab.
A screen load of them - each one as meaningless as the next.
Those are more for us Geeks and do mean quite a bit, but only if you
speak Geek, otherwise they are often mistaken for "Greek".
I am kind of under the weather right now and my clairvoyant abilities
seem to be down right now. Maybe a cut and paste would be more
helpful?
"Grey", if you really believe that you have clairvoyant abilities, then
you
should see a psychiatrist. You may have schizophrenia.
*I* wasn't the one boasting clairvoyant abilities - I was the one who
Nah, that was George who stated he was "under the weather", probably
loaded up on antihistamines and pain killers. With enough of those
you can see the future, relive the past, and you can talk to the dead.
Too many and you can join them. <:-))
orginally posted the question, although a clairvoyant would be more useful
than those Boinc help files. I've tried crystal balls, tarot cards,
sacrificing sheep at midnight. Nothing seems to work.
As some one else mentioned, with the ending of the "classic" seti,
there has been a tremendous influx of new BOINC users and the system
is basically overloaded. Remember there are well over a million users
with over 6 million listed. I haven't looked at the stats in months
so it may be more than that.
They very easily could have as many as 2 million new users signing up
for seti on BOINC.
As a rough explanation, BOINC is a shell or application within which
other applications can run. Two of those apps are seti and the
climate prediction software. There are a number of others.
With the old seti classic a number of us wrote script files to up and
download files and keep a buffer loaded in case the system went down.
There were other, more solicitant programs available that did the same
and more.
BOINC does all that for us. It also runs bench marks on our systems
so it can make a decision as to how many work units it should put in
the queue and still run efficiently.
Currently I'm building up such a back log of results the system is
trying every minute or two, so if none go by tonight I'm going to shut
mine down for a few days then try again. I really hate to shut it
down and stop doing WUs, but all those attempts to upload are not
helping the situation and I have three relatively fast machines
rapidly adding to the backlog.
