I no problems setting up my original BOINC installation.
I did run into one problem later due to some IP blocking software I
use and it was apparently my own doing. The one computer ended up with
HTML blocking turned on and as I didn't remember doing that it took me
about two weeks to find it.

I am running three of four computers on BOINC over a network.  I did
not have to set it up as a service, I merely used the defaults and it
worked fine.  Connect to the proper url and then give it my account
number which is the same for all three of the computers.
